WSaxQ is the most widely heard saxophone quartet in the United States. Since 1997, recorded arrangements by the Washington Saxophone Quartet have aired daily throughout the United States on National Public Radio's broadcasts of "All Things Considered".

Formed in 1984 by Washington, D.C. area saxophonist, flutist, composer and arranger Clayton Englar, Windmill has developed a unique and highly eclectic sound over the years, drawing not only from jazz but classical, pop, Latin and avant-garde forms, and using a vast array of woodwind instruments: soprano to bass saxophones, flutes and clarinets.
The World Saxophone Quartet is an jazz ensemble founded in 1977, implementing elements of free funk and African jazz into their musical routines. The original members were Julius Hemphill, Oliver Lake, Hamiet Bluiett, alto clarinet), and David Murray. The first three had worked together as members of the Black Artists' Group in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Wright State Saxophone Quartet is a performing chamber ensemble comprised of Wright State University music students under the musical coaching of Professor Shelley Jagow. All members are music education and/or performance majors at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Quartet membership is chosen annually on a highly selective audition process.
