Make friends with local (and national) media. Send press releases to every outlet that you think should give your concert coverage. Follow up with a phone call. Understand that they don’t ‘owe you’ anything, so don’t be aggressive. However, it IS their job to report on/review anything that they think might be of interest to their audience (readers, listeners, viewers). In some cases it may take years to develop a relationship where they trust you.

Also, expect to get some bad reviews from critics that like you, and some articles where the info your give them is not the info that they print. Don’t take it personally, and don’t take it out on them. [You may want to read through some of the Articles and Reviews on this site to get a sense of the ebb and flow of these things. Unlike most ensembles’ websites that only post the ‘good’ reviews, we’ve posted the good and the bad. It may give you a more balanced view of what to expect.]
