Mower, Mike

MIKE MOWER, baritone saxophonist with the saxophone quartet Itchy Fingers, originally studied classical flute at the Royal Academy in London. His high-energy pieces provide many opportunities for improvisation. In addition to producing classical and jazz CDs, his work as composer and arranger has included commissions for ensembles such as the BBC Big Band and Radio Orchestra, London, the NDR Big Band, Hamburg, the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, and many classical and jazz ensembles throughout Europe. Mower continues to add works to his catalogue that often bridge the gap between jazz and classical music, with the intention of producing music that is challenging, but always melodic and enjoyable to play.
