Become a grant panelist

A grant panel is often the body that judges applications. Once you have established your ensemble in the community and earned a reputation for artistic integrity, it may be time to see if you can give back to the granting process by volunteering as a grant reader. It's a lot of work, but worth every minute. (Expect several hours to several hundred hours of pouring over other people's grant applications, listening to hours of audio and/or watching videos.) In panel meetings, everyone discusses the merits of each application and what particularly impressed them both positively and negatively. In addition to doing valuable work, you will gain  insights into how to write your future grant applications.
